THE EFFECT OF EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE ON IT PROJECT SUCCESS. THE MEDIATING ROLE OF TEAM COLLABORATION

Abstract

The study examined the effect of emotional intelligence on project success with mediating role of team collaboration. The target industry for the current study was IT industry and targeted population was IT organizations registered in Islamabad region. Data was collected from IT project-based organizations in the premises of Islamabad and target population was project director, project managers, project supervisors and project directors. For this population, convenient sampling technique was implemented and questionnaires were distributed among 480 project managers out of which only 250 responses were retrieved. And the total response rate was 52 percent. In this study it was found that emotional intelligence has positive impact on project success and mediation effect of team collaboration originate to be positively related with emotional intelligence and project success. The framework suggests all attributes studied in this research. The study is a significant contribution for foundation of project management. It suggests some directions for further studies and has various implications at managerial and academic levels. The current study suggests that team collaboration is superlative practice for the project success in the Pakistan’s IT industry.
